Client: Schaus Mechanical
Scope: 1,150 sq. ft, Office Expansion
Project Delivery: Design/Build
Location: Manitowoc, Wisconsin
A.C.E. Building Service collaborated with Schaus Mechanical to address the needs of the growing company following an acquisition. The 1,150-square-foot office expansion not only enhanced the functionality of the existing space but also maintained the cohesive aesthetic established during a recent renovation. The project showcases our ability to integrate new construction seamlessly with existing structures.
The existing building posed unique challenges due to its symmetrical geometry. The only viable expansion option was on the low eave, creating an asymmetrical structure. Additionally, the masonry used in the original building was no longer available. To address these challenges, we salvaged the stone from the existing structure and repurposed it on the expansion along with a newly introduced material that embraced the asymmetrical shape of the new combined structure. This not only added a contemporary touch to the 50-year-old building but also created a harmonious exterior that complemented the original architecture.
In addition to the salvaged stone masonry, we also utilized a conventional steel post and beam construction, incorporated vertical metal panels, and fiber cement siding. These materials were carefully selected to ensure durability while enhancing the building’s visual appeal.
Maintaining consistency with the interior design of the office was a top priority for the client. To achieve this, we carefully sourced matching finishes and designed the office layout to seamlessly align with the existing flow and aesthetics. We also strategically positioned load-bearing columns to ensure structural integrity while preserving the office's continuity and functionality.
"We've partnered with A.C.E. Building Service on several projects, including a recent office addition. One of my biggest concerns was ensuring the new addition matched our existing facility, and the result exceeded my expectations. From project management to on-site execution, we were thoroughly impressed and highly satisfied with their work." — Schaus Mechanical President Jerry Schaus.
