A.C.E. Building Service Completes Renovation for the Boys and Girls Club of Manitowoc County

The Boys and Girls Club of Manitowoc County is a startup non-profit organization that needed an inviting, well-rounded space that adhered to the national group's specifications.

A.C.E. Building Service, a Northeast Wisconsin-based provider of commercial and industrial construction services, announced the completion of a renovation project for the Boys and Girls Club of Manitowoc County. The organization provides a safe place for kids to learn and grow and creates ongoing relationships with caring, adult professionals. It offers life-enhancing programs, character development experiences, hope and opportunity.

The building selected as the new organization’s home was originally constructed as a movie theater and recently housed medical offices and a fitness club. The two spaces were combined to create a 9,000 square foot facility that includes areas for classrooms, games, staff offices, a cafe, a kitchen, STEM lab, art room and gymnasium.

“We were happy to help this important organization renovate their new space so they can offer critical services to the children in our community,” said Chris Herzog, president of A.C.E. Building Service. “As a startup non-profit, it was important for the organization’s leaders to be able to use budget dollars as efficiently as possible, and we were able to help create a design that utilized many of the existing walls and fixtures to help keep costs lower.”

One of the most important and heavily utilized areas in any Boys and Girls Club facility is the gymnasium. A.C.E. converted the former theater space into a three-quarters size gym with regulation basketball hoops, two cross-court hoops, and a volleyball court. The renovation includes a wooden floor to provide the true look and feel of a typical gymnasium and a safer floor surface for kids to play on.

“A.C.E. Building Service was excellent to work with and truly with us every step of the way,” said William Bertsche, executive director for the Boys & Girls Club of Manitowoc County. “They were great communicators when issues arose and always had good solutions to resolve them. Even after completing the renovation, they have been very responsive to our questions if something additional was needed. I greatly appreciated their project insight and overall support as we renovated our new site.”
